Communications and Marketing
The Services We Provide

The Office of Communications and Marketing leads ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥'s communications and marketing strategy in support of the college's mission, priorities and goals.
Communications and Marketing partners with offices across the college to identify audiences, shape messages and determine the most effective ways to reach them. The office brings expertise in marketing, creative services, media relations, digital communications and storytelling while ensuring a consistent ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ brand.
As a small team serving the entire college, Communications and Marketing focuses its most comprehensive support on major initiatives and high-visibility efforts. This ensures the college's communications resources are concentrated where they can have the greatest impact on enrollment, reputation and institutional priorities.

Levels of Support

Communications and Marketing prioritizes work that advances college-wide strategic goals and puts its expertise and resources where they can make the biggest difference.
The highest level of support generally goes to:
- Enrollment and recruitment: Campaigns and communications that attract prospective students and move them to apply and enroll.
- Institutional marketing and brand: Efforts that build awareness, strengthen ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥'s reputation and communicate the college's value.
- Strategic storytelling and public relations: Stories, media relations and content showing the impact of ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥'s students, employees, alumni and programs.
- Priority academic and workforce programs: Promotion tied to enrollment, workforce demand, institutional priorities or significant growth opportunities.
- College-wide initiatives: Major projects affecting broad audiences or directly advancing strategic priorities.
- Executive and institutional communications: Communications supporting the president, senior leadership and major institutional announcements.
These efforts may draw on advertising, social media, web, design, photography, video, news media and internal communications.
Types of Support
While Communications and Marketing serves the entire college, not every communications need requires a custom creative project or comprehensive marketing campaign.
Support generally falls into three categories:
- Full-service strategic support
For high-priority initiatives, Communications and Marketing may develop and execute a comprehensive strategy involving multiple channels and team members. - Targeted support
For some projects, Communications and Marketing may provide specific services, such as photography, publicity, web support, social media or design, rather than managing the entire initiative. - Tools and guidance
For routine or smaller-scale needs, Communications and Marketing may provide a template, brand resource, consultation or other tool so the campus partner can complete the project.
Examples
- Full-service: launching a new academic program
- Targeted: photography and a news release for a ribbon cutting
- Tools and guidance: an approved flyer template for a departmental workshop
Communications and Marketing determines the appropriate level of support based on strategic alignment, audience impact, available resources and current workload.
Communications and Marketing generally does not provide custom creative support for routine departmental materials, recurring internal needs or projects with limited audiences that can be completed using approved college tools and templates.

Internal Flyers: If your flyer uses any WSCC logo, it must be reviewed. Submit a Creative Services Request, choose Brand Review, and allow at least 2 weeks for approval before publishing.
-
External or Official Promotions: For public events or official program promotions, Communications and Marketing must design the final asset. You may include your AI-generated mockups as concept references when submitting a standard Creative Services Request.

Do not use AI to generate WSCC logos or QR codes, as AI alters brand marks and causes scan errors.
