Medical Laboratory Technology - Overview
The Medical Laboratory Technology Program provides comprehensive classroom and clinical
education in clinical laboratory sciences. The program prepares graduates to work
as entry-level professionals in laboratory testing. Medical laboratory technicians
perform tests on human body fluids and tissues, providing data essential for the diagnosis,
treatment and management of diseases, or for the maintenance of wellness. This program
is designed for students who do not intend to transfer to a baccalaureate degree program.
This program prepares you to enter the workforce immediately after graduation. Graduates
may earn national and/or state certification following post-graduate exams.

Students must apply, meet admission requirements, and be accepted by 蜜桔直播 Community College (WSCC).
Students are encouraged to:

- Indicate Medical Laboratory Technology as the desired major on the WSCC application form.
- Follow college policy for advising prior to registration.
- Complete all required Learning Support courses no later than the end of the spring semester the year the student elects to participate in the selection process.
- Successfully complete BIOL 2010/2011, BIOL 2020/2021, ENG 1010, PSYC 1030, 3 hours Humanities/Fine Arts, MLab 1301, 4 hours of Intro to Microbiology or Intro to Chemistry, and MATH 1010 or 1530 no later than the end of spring semester of the year the student elects to participate in the selection process for fall semester MLT class. A grade of 鈥淐鈥� or better must be achieved in each required science course, with an overall GPA of at least 2.0. Biological science courses previously taken must have been completed within the last 10 years.

Funding Your Education
Tuition is set each June by the Tennessee Board of Regents. Tuition and fees for the current academic year may be viewed on the Cashiers Office website.
Four types of financial aid are available; federal, state, institutional and other sources. Students need to send FAFSA information to the college for consideration for state and/or federal money (lottery scholarships, Pell grants, etc.). WSCC is an eligible institution for Hope (lottery) scholarships. For specific information please contact the Financial Aid Office.

The Graduation Rate (*) is based upon the NAACLS definition of the number of who began the second half of the program and completed the program.
Certification Rate is based upon a combined BOC/AMT certification pass rate for an overall certification pass rate within ONE YEAR of MLT Program completion. It is important to note that the NAACLS outcome benchmark of certification pass rate is evaluated on the ONE YEAR within graduation pass rate.
