An Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) responds to emergency situations, providing
care needed to stabilize patients. An EMT may also transport patients in need to routine
medical appointments. Our EMT certificate provides the basic knowledge and skills
needed to fill this important role. A combination of classroom work and clinical experience
ensures graduates are ready for any call. Students complete 16 hours, which can be
completed in one semester including a one-hour field internship. Upon completion of
the course, students may take the National Registry鈥檚 written and practical exams.
Upon completion of the exam, graduates are eligible for a Tennessee EMT License. Graduates
may continue their education with the advanced EMT technical certificate or the associate
of applied science, paramedic, degree.
