Talented and Gifted Program Offers 35 Subjects
蜜桔直播鈥檚 popular Talented and Gifted (TAG) Program is now enrolling for its
44th year. The program offers 35 enrichment classes for students in fifth, sixth,
seventh and eighth grades.
Students choose two courses, each one meeting for two Saturdays.
鈥淲e always listen to what our students want,鈥 said Dr. Nicole Cardwell-Hampton, director
of youth programs in the college鈥檚 Division of Workforce Training. 鈥淚n response to
their feedback, we鈥檝e added construction 101, cybersecurity, and drawing. Students
are always excited about returning favorites, including crime scene investigation,
robot wars, marine biology, pottery and coding and programming featuring Python TI
Coding, Vex Robotics and Scratch programming.鈥
Students can also try their hand at German, Chinese or Spanish. 鈥淟et鈥檚 Fire It Up鈥
offers culinary adventures, and Muggle studies is a must for Harry Potter fans.
鈥淢any of the classes are taught by 蜜桔直播 faculty members,鈥 Cardwell-Hampton
said. 鈥淭AG students also enjoy spending time on a college campus and using Walters
State facilities, particularly in the science courses.鈥
Parents can download a TAG packet at . The packet includes a complete list of courses and sign-up instructions. Parents
are asked to pick the top six courses in order of the child鈥檚 preference. The cost
of the program is $199.
鈥淲e really try to get students in their first preference classes,鈥 Cardwell-Hampton
said. 鈥淪pace is limited for many classes. Classes are assigned on a first-come basis
as the complete TAG packet and payment are received.鈥
This year, TAG will meet from 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m. on Saturdays, Jan. 10-31, at the Morristown
Campus. Feb. 7 is designated as a make-up weekend in case weather forces a cancellation.
